Re: Installing winxp Home Edition

Any download from the internet would be illegal and likely include some viruses and spyware that yo udo not need!

What Brand is the laptop? . . Most manufacturers will sell replacement installation cd's

Re: Installing winxp Home Edition

I do not reside in the U.S, and the laptop was bought in the U.S. So, other than that, I will not be able to install using the product key I have?

Re: Installing winxp Home Edition

If you can come up with a OEM version of XP Home, you can use that with the Produ t Key on the laptop . .

Re: Installing winxp Home Edition

Hi all

Ismael -- Another option (if you are unable to locate a suitable CD) is to order a replacement "Recovery Disk Set". For your model, I believe this set includes a few CDs -- one is just for reinstalling Windows XP itself (Hp calls it the OSD "operating system disk" -- it's likely simply an OEM XP CD), and another disk has drivers and the software bundle. The price I hear most often for such sets is about $19 (USD). The order page is available from the following link (scroll down to the section "CD-ROM Order page - Recovery Disks") --- http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...385148&lang=en

By the way, if you do locate a suitable XP CD, but find that you need to download a driver specific to your model -- the XP drivers are available for download from that same link.

Best of luck
. . . Gary
