Re: regedit disabled in win98se

We are NOT allowed to help circumvent restrictions that have possibly been placed on Computers/Networks by Admin to stop USERS from playing with the registry, so the above link has been removed.
Whilst I have no doubts as to the integrity of the Original Poster, any links here will be or could be seen by anyone who browses the forum and would be considered as aiding and abetting hacking which is forbidden under our Rules.

I would suggest looking at the Microsoft help site about re-instating or enabling regedit.

Re: regedit disabled in win98se

Sort of a silly rule. You're clearly doubting the topic creator's intentions when you say that you are not. He said he's the administrator: so there you go, he just has a problem that needs to be fixed. I personally find the rule to be absurd in the first place, but that's not my point anyway.

Re: regedit disabled in win98se

I don't see how that rule applies. If you're going to use it so broadly, you could apply it to all kinds of threads at this site. I've seen people who've had trouble with their Windows services: you could claim that they aren't an admin and are trying to hack into the system. Seems to be on the same level as this.

Re: regedit disabled in win98se

regedit is frequently disabled by Network administrators and the link that was given was a link to a workaround. Regardless of whether the Poster is legit or not, posting that link is in violation of the rules. Helping someone to re-instate regedit is in violation of the rules because we have no way of proving whether he is who he is or not. And any help given would be seen by everybody should we believe him and give help.
The decision is final. Arguing the point could be misunderstood as Trolling.
