What's running? (me os)
How do i determine what programs(tasks) are running on my pc at any time?I have a problem that i do not get auto system check points recorded.System restore is not turned off,i understand that if the computer is running the check points will not be taken until it is idle-correct?

Re: What's running? (me os)
Hi mikeali, Hi tiffany22
Tiffany's tip to use Task Manager will indeed let you view running programs, as well as a list of other background processes and performance information. To access Task Manager, right-click the taskbar (usually along the bottom edge of your desktop screen) and select Task Manager from the list of options. The rules for the automatically created restore points (or "checkpoints") are: Event-Triggered -- 1) Program Installs (.msi or InstallShield 6.1 or newer) 2) Automatic Windows Updates 3) Performing a System Restore operation (Windows Me will create a restore point just before it restores the system to the restore point you've selected --- NOTE = this will not occur automatically if run in Safe Mode) Time-Triggered -- 1) After 10 hours of computer up-time, once the PC is idle for at least 2 minutes, or 2) After 24 hours, once the PC is idle for at least 2 minutes. Should you wish for a more informative view of your running processes, you can try the Microsoft/SysInternals utility ProcessExplorer --- http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sys...sExplorer.mspx --- and should you need to identify any running processes, try the TaskList at AnswersThatWork --- http://www.answersthatwork.com/Taskl...s/tasklist.htm --- or at SysInfo.org --- http://www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.php This is probably more information than you need, but once I start typing, it's the bobsled going down the snowy slope. Best of luck! . . . Gary
