t.v. tuner and satellite

I have my t.v. tuner hooked up to a satellite box. (I use Windows XP SP2) I can watch t.v. fine, change channels fine. The problem is that when I record (either by going to a channel and clicking record or actually schedule a program to record), it only records one channel (channel 7, in my case; the lowest channel I receive). I have downloaded the t.v. guide many times, logged off, logged back on and I just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I've even reconfigured my settings several times. Does anyone know what the problem is or how to fix it?

Re: t.v. tuner and satellite

are you changing channels on the TV tuner software or on the satellite box itself. In these cases, the TV tuner really can only take what the satellite box is sending it. So you cant really set something to record via the TV guide scheduled recording, as it will normally try to record its OWN regularily tuned channel, instead of the one from the feed in.. shouldn't stop you from when you have channel X showing on the screen, you SHOULD be able to hit record and record what you are seeing.

How is it connected into the TV tuner? via the coax tv cable? If you tuner has the option of using Svideo/RCA connection, try going through that, as you will change the tuner to say that input, and it doesn't look at the channel part at all.

Re: t.v. tuner and satellite

Thanks for your response. I figured out, however, that I was using the WRONG remote! I was using the satellite remote instead of the Media Center remote. Now that I am using the MC remote, it seems to be working. Easier answer than I had thought!
