need help

What is the problem with my computer, it stucks (hang) at the start up screen (where it shows the brand of motherboard, where you can press the DEL button to enter BIOS Setup) ... then thats it, nothing happens~!its just stays there but u still can enter the BIOS but when you save changes and restart, it stills stays there~ .. please help

you have posted under the win 9 forum but list xp on the side
for win 9 boot to a dos promn't and run
scanreg /restore
for xp
tap f8 when booting and try from the options
last known good configuration

it was my dad's computer (in a winME ver) .. assume it was mine not to make things complicated, heh..:) ... how can i run on DOS prompt when the screen was stuck at the startup page.. nuthing much u can do unless enter the BIOS screen by pressing DEL..

you boot the computer from a 98 bootdisk to the A: promn't
