wireless router won't work with Win ME hard wired
I just bought a new wireless router and connected my desktop to it with a wire. On my desktop, I am running Windows ME. The internet is not working. I went to start, run, cmd, and at the command prompt, I pinged the routers IP and it came back fine.
How do I change the settings in ME to recognize the internet connection? As a result, I crashed my laptop already trying to get it to share internet connections and don't want to make another fatal mistake. I'm currently typing from a 3rd laptop. |

Re: wireless router won't work with Win ME hard wired
a 3rd laptop?! wow, okay, we'll deal with one at a time, okay? I won't be here for a few weeks after this post, so i hope someone else steps up and helps you out, three is a tough job. Have you tried going to "internet options" and adding a network? try that. it might be that your computer recognizes it, but it's just not set up to work on the net yet. Even though you have a router, and the computer recognizes it as a device, you need to still connect it via internet in order to get a connection. I'm not familiar with ME, so i really don't know exactly where to go for this. I know in XP and VISTA it should enable you make a quick add for networks and internet connections.
If you don't get a response after a while just IM one of the mods and they'll help ya out. God Bless and In Him, Eric |
