Re: Computer Shutting Down Randomly
Hi crazyOne
Some questions: 1) What version of Windows? 2) Is the system under warranty? make/model? 3) Is the system less than a year old? 4) Did the games ever run OK without shutdowns? Do ANY games run OK extensively without shutdowns? 5) What make/model power supply is in the system? 6) Do you run a temperature monitoring program to track the temps? 7) What troubleshooting have you already done? The first thing that comes to mind with shutdowns is heat. Next might be power, failing hardware, or drivers. Try running the system with the case open - so that you can check for any intermittent trouble with the fans. If you are using any fan controls in either the Bios or through Windows software, set the fans to run at full all the time -- at least while troubleshooting. Best of luck . . . Gary [If this is happens to be an XP system - look in your EventViewer logs for clues]

Re: Computer Shutting Down Randomly
msmel -
If you aren't the same member as crazyone, could you open your own thread here in this forum? Give us a few details on your situation - such as what disks you have available, what symptoms your PC has, etc.... If you'd like to get started right away, begin by checking your hardware. Check the memory --- http://www.memtest.org Check the hard drive --- http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287 Check the Bios --- find a manual for your make/model (search engines are good for that) & check the Bios Setup. Especially ensure that the time/date are correct, if slipping backwards, the CMOS battery likely needs replacing. Best of luck . . . Gary
