Windows explorer error
I download a lot of movies and just recently, every time i go to open them, a box appears and says that Windows Explorer has encountered a problem, and needs to close, it doesn't matter what program I open the movie in, it appears! Is there anything i can do?

Re: Windows explorer error
Hi all
tinku1982 - Please open a new thread of your own for your problem with Firefox. It's considered impolite to add a new question into another member's thread. We'll need a bit more information, too - such as the error message in full, what version Windows the problem system is running, and any changes you have made recently. ... That said, welcome to the Tech Support Forums. mir dog - Welcome to you, as well: from us here at Tech Support Forums. Any time that a PC suddenly experiences unexpected behavior, it's a good idea to run thorough scans for malware. If the movies you've been downloading were from sites that allow free downloading of copyrighted media (breaking copyright law) - of course we do not support that behavior here. It's also rather obvious that visiting such sites lends a high probability of malware infection. Should it be legitimate downloads that you are speaking of, next time you see the error, see if there is a "Detail" option button that will give more information about your error. If so, select the "Details" option, and post the full error information for us here. Also, if you recently made any hardware or software changes just prior to this trouble, let us know. If malware itself isn't the cause, it certainly seems to be true that your file-associations for media files is off. Windows Explorer should not be involved in opening video files of any sort. That job should be associated with your media players (Windows Media Player, RealPlayer, iTunes, WinAmp, QuickTime, etc....). For a quick-fix solution to opening any partitcular video file, press your Shift key and right-click on the filename --- this should yield an option-box that has "Open With" among its options. Choose "Open With" and select your favorite installed media player, also selecting the box "always use the selected program to open this sort of file" Best of luck . . . Gary
