ERROR ON PAGE Hotmail

First thing to say is that Hotmail can't help. I can log in to Hotmail and see my inbox with new messages but cannot open any of my messages because of "Error On Page". I cannot access Help either. I cannot add the Hotmail account to Outlook Express either, it does not allow. However an existing Hotmail account, which is already on OE, will download messages but only into OE and not on IE. Hotmail said to update IE6, which I did (1.5 hours to achieve) but this had no effect. Hotmail now do not offer any other help. I use Win 98 version 2. The rest of my Internet seems to work fine. I have been using this PC for 6 years, no games and no other users. no recent changes or new programmes. I Use PC Cillin. No pop up blocker.

Google search shows hundreds of others with similar problem but no cure. Is there a Superman or Superwoman out there that really knows how to crack this one? PLEASE.

thanks in anticipation. Mal.

I got this from another site (not sure if you read this one):
Quote:
go to Tools -> Internet Options, and then click on Delete Files and Delete Cookies. Delete files will delete all recent pages you've visited, and delete cookies will delete all cookies that were saved on your computer.

Also, go to the Privacy tab in Internet Options and be sure that your computer is allowing cookies. (I would suggest using Low, but anything higher than Medium might be affecting your e-mail.)
Hope that helps.

error on page Hotmail

Thankyou Greynight17, unfortunately the advice which you kindly forwarded has no effect at all on my problem.

I had to laugh/cry today when I got a reply from Hotmail Support re. my problem of being unable to get the Help button to respond on Hotmail. Their only advice, was to use the Help button to get help to cure the fault. They then said "this is an auto response" and you cannot reply to this address. Now that is what I call real old fashioned personal service. Hotmail Support have certainly developed winding up the customer into a fine art!

In that case, let's try something else first. I want to make sure that spyware is not causing this problem.

Please download HijackThis. Create a folder at C:\HJT and move HijackThis.exe there. Run a scan and save the log file. Post the whole log file here. Do not fix anything since most of them listed there are harmless (some are system required). This program will help us determine if there is any spyware/malware on your computer.

Error on page hotmail....

I also have the same problem. I beleive it to be spyware/adware related.
I have used spysweeper, adaware, spybot, and spy doctor. None have fixed the problem. When it first started happening i scanned the computer using adware-away and found some viruses. After removing these hotmail worked again for a while but then stopped and no matter what i scan with wont work. il try using your highjack scanner.

Grin Yay i fixed it.

After doing some searching i found there are many people having this problem. Mine was caused by PC-Cilin web trap. After unchecking the webtrap box in the pccilin settings hotmail works perfectly.
