Question P4P800-E Deluxe, Win98 SE & Chipset update utility

Hi everyone

I've just installed a new Asus P4P800-E Deluxe motherboard (P4E 3.0ghz, 512mb Corsair PC3200) with Win XP home - everythng went well.

Then tried to boot the existing Win 98 SE partition, which started ok but with no AGP support & basic microsoft motherboard drivers. I've tried running various versions of the Intel Chipset utility (infinst_enu.exe) to install the 865PE mobo drivers, but it keeps failing with a "must be installed on supported chipset & supported operating system" message.

Have checked various forums but cant find an answer for why this is happening when both Win 98 SE and mobo are both supported by the utility.
I've also tried removing/installing drivers manually but Win 98 still doesnt recognise the new drivers or devices on boot up.

All suggestions welcome.
