Can't add network protocol.
Ok, this is one problem I haven't encountered yet- On a Windows 98 system, when I go into the Network control panel and click the "Add" button, I am given the normal list of Adapter/Protocol/Service , but when I select one (in my case, protocol, but I have tried all of them to no avail) and click "Ok" nothing happens. The window sort of "blinks" but nothing happens.
I have tried starting up in Safe-Mode and still couldn't get it to work. I need to add an Ethernet TCP/IP protocol, but cannot. Any help here? I am clueless on what to do next... |

To add a protocol, you must have an adapter configured for the protocol to bind to.
Try adding adapter (if you have none), select microsoft, select dial-up adapter. If you haven't installed a network card, or the drivers are not correctly loaded, then load the network card drivers and it should fix this for you.

Found this
Remove and reinstall DUN and TCP/IP: http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;Q181599 If that doesn't help, you probably need a winsock repair: http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/data/lsp_fix.htm
