on screen graphics getting corrupted
Hello,
I wonder if anyone can offer advice? The graphics on screen are getting corrupted whether I am online or offline. For example the start button is being replicated about 5 times on the bottom of the screen. If I view a word document the characters appear out of alignment. Sometimes the whole screen gets blapped with some graphics. As I type this in blocks black are appearing and disappearing. I ran my Zone alarms anti-virus software and it found an infection a couple of weeks ago but it said that it had resolved the problem. Since then I have run it reguarly and it shows no problems. Is this a virus problem or is it something else? Thanks. |

Re: on screen graphics getting corrupted
Hello, I don't think it is any of the spyware type of problem. I have had to reduce the display on my monitor to 16 colours to be able to get a readable display. Could it be the graphics card or something like that is corrupted.?
I did completely reload everything after re-formatting the disk. The problem was still there after doing that. |

Re: on screen graphics getting corrupted
Yup, I am coming to that conclusion as well.
If I try running it with the full colours then its impossible to use the system. I can only operate it by making it run in 16 colour display mode. I think I will get a new card. Its seems the obvious way to go. Thanks for your help. |

Re: on screen graphics getting corrupted
My next question is..... because ME is not supported anymore. Are graphics cards available anymore? I have had a quick look and it seems as though for certain I cannot get a straight replacement.
The existing one is SIS 305 2X AGP 32MB Am I just banging my head up against a brick wall here? Is it better to be thinking about going to XP? ME seems to have so many problems that it does not seem to worth the hassle of chasing after it? |

Re: on screen graphics getting corrupted
Manufacturers are weaning out old O.S. as they are not supported anymore. Yes, WinME was the worse O.S. Microsoft ever created. I would think about a new system with a new O.S.

Re: on screen graphics getting corrupted
Try and find a card from a used computer store.
http://www.driverguide.com/ might have a driver for it. |
