MasterCook 8 help

This is my first time here and I hope someone might be able to help me or direct me to a thread related to my problem. I use MasterCook 8 and used the Web Import Bar constantly until a few days ago when it simply stopped working. It does just fine until it's supposed to give the choice of cookbooks to import too and nothing happens. I have reinstalled MC8 and have turned off my security and nothing seems to work. Any help would be truly appreciated.

Re: MasterCook 8 help

Hi Carol

If your Windows version is either Windows Me or Windows XP, you can try using the "System Restore" feature that is built-into those versions of Windows. There is a pretty good Help file for System Restore = use the "Help and Support" link on your Windows Start Menu. You'd restore your computer, using a "restore point" from a time prior to your current trouble with MC8.

By all means, I can't recommend connecting to the Internet without some protection in place. Make sure to re-enable your protectors, and run some thorough scans to see if any malware took advantage while your shields were down. If you suspect a firewall setting or a browser setting might have caused your issue, look to see if your firewall requires that program to be "allowed" access, or if the import function requires the Java functions of your browser to be enabled.

Best of luck
. . . Gary

Re: MasterCook 8 help

Gary, you are a life saver. I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to computers, but I do follow directions pretty well and yours worked like a charm, I followed them all. I can't thank you enough for taking the time to help me. Have a wonderful day.

Carol
