Re: Wirless Router for Desk Top

Hi WinMe

Actually, the router is a hardware device, and so long as you have an adapter on your Windows Me computer than can receive "wireless-b" (ethernet 802.11b) or "wireless-g" (ethernet 802.11g), you can configure the router to work with your PC. The only thing incompatible about the 1310 is it's software bundle, which isn't required for it to provide basic functionality.

The 1310 is a good, economical choice for a WinMe system actually, since it provides a built-in hardware firewall = and should keep the older legacy Windows PC quite a bit safer while networking.

To set up the router, you will want to configure it manually, NOT with the setup CD/DVD that comes with it. Most DLink routers have the address of 192.168.0.1 by default, and I believe the initial login is to use admin as the username, and leave the password field blank. (You type the 192.168.0.1 into the address bar in your browser to access the manual setup of the router). All the details should be in the manual --- http://www.dlink.com/products/suppor...4&sec=1#manual

Best of luck
. . . Gary
