256 colors

i installed windows 98 upgrade and when my programs open they are not the right color ad hard to read. i tried to change the 16 bit colors to 256, but when i restart the computer, it goes right back to 16. please help even this forum is hard to read

You need to update or reinstall your video card drivers.
