Safely remove USB stick
I have one of those USB memory sticks, and if I plug it into a winXP machine, when i want to take it out, I can click 'Stop' (in the thingy that appears in the system tray), and then remove it. However, in 98se there isn't one. I pull out the stick, and i get a blue screen message about how i should close al open files on it. It does seem to be a 'remember it next time' message so it doesn't bother me that much, but sometimes it crashes my computer.
Anyone have any idea what on earth i'm on about? Cheers, Tim |

W98 doesn't have the same disconnect, so you just need to wait for long enough that everything is written. Some of the devices, like my JumpDrives, have activity LED's that you can monitor to see when acrivity ceases.
