explorer.exe deleted and no display prior to windows start up
I think I have big problems! My explorer file was accidentally deleted so of course now I get an error (illegal action and page fault in explorer, etc...) when windows 98 starts. My other problem is that on my system I don't get the usual information or system displays that come on the monitor prior to windows starting. (Patriot computer!) The monitor is just black until windows starts. So, I can't access my A drive (it kicks in on start up but nothing displays on the screen) and my cd rom drive does not run anything automatically. I have always had to go into my computer to run anything on A or cd drive once in windows. Is there any solution? Pleeeeeease help me!!

Do you have your win98 installation cd? Or even a startup floppy? When you boot perhaps you can get into bios by holding down the delete key. If you get in find the setting for boot order and set it for drive A or cdrom according to what you have available. If no success there, will F8 get you booted into safe mode? Whatever you can do to get a DOS prompt. At the prompt type scanreg/restore to try to restore the registry. Please advise.

I believe it is, but not in DOS.
