Explorer crashing even in Safe Mode?

I can't offer much input besides that the Explorer is crashing on startup, even after I try booting into safe mode. Mouse/Keyboard still work fine and I am able to bring the Control-Alt-Delete dialog, but of course nothing is there.

No odd input devices are attached, just a standard PS2 mouse/keyboard. I don't know when or how this started happening, as It is a computer I am working on for somebody else, not my own.

Any ideas on how to resolve this problem and at least get the thing to Windows where I can start checking for problems?
Also any idea on why this would be happening?

Help would be much appreciated!

hey muzein,

do you have another computer you can put the harddrive in to scan for viruses and spyware?
