new hard drive. old restore cd. please help
My old hard drive crashed. got a new one. do I have to purchase new op system or will the restore cd put windows on my new hardrive?

If the restore CD came with the machine, I feel certain Windows will reinstall just fine. You may have to also download updated device drivers to get all of your components working again.

New HDD, Old OS
Even if it does not want to load immediately, just find an old version of Windows, load it, then upgrade using the OS you have now. If it is the UPGRADE VERSION of Windows, Windows requires an older version already present on the hard drive to load the new version. If it is the system CD that came with the PC when new, it should just load because everything except the size of the HDD is the same
