EEK! Invalid drive g when downloading anything

Hey all I could use some help here or I am gonna be bald...
I have an old eMachine (piece of junk...) with ME on it. When I try to load new MSN updates or even software from a CD I get told invalid drive g. Well I don't have a drive G. I do have an 80 gig external HD but that is labled as E. I have tried everything I know and somethings that have been reccomended to me and still I cannot download my updates for Messenger or load from a CD. Does anyone have a clue as to what I either have done to cause it or should do to fix this? I have unistalled MSN 9 and reloaded it, Tried disableing my system restore and ran a virus scan and ran a spyware check. I have unistalled my 80 gig and reinstalled it... still same message. HELP!!!! Chicks just are not sexy with no hair.... lol
Peace,
Copper
