smartlink 2800 modem driver?

i have an old pc which i have newly installed windows 98 second edition on quite succesfully. the aim is to have a dial up connection on this pc and run some remote admin on it thought the web. A little networking practice and alike....

the modem card is a smart link 2800 fax 56k modem .

i have downlaoded a driver which says it is for this card and for 95/98.etc.

problem is when i try to install this driver, i get "only for win NT"

I'VE looked every where for the correct driver to no avail.

i have also added to virtual ports ie, com3 com4.

also this make/brand of modem is not on the list within win 98se as a modem option.... i need help before i take a hammer to it..

have a look at the card .. there will be a black square on it with lots of legs soldered to the board .. check out what is written there and let me know .. maybe we'll find drivers via the chipset

is it the card found on this page

this driver for Packard Bell might work

drivers guide also has one here but you'll have to register first .. it's free to join .. I've been using them for years

winmodems are so cheap you might be better off to just buy one that says "Windows 98" right on the box...

please elaborate .. I don't really understand what you are saying .. did you find a download site and drivers ?
