network neighborhood
Hi Guys,(and Gals) I know this is probably a stupid and simple question, but how do I get that bloody network neighborhood icon off of my desktop? I want to say I did it before but I don't remember how, I haven't used win 98 in a while and it is the only legal OS I still have. I know this sounds corny, but I think win 98 isn't so bad. I have it on a modern computer so I guess that's why. Anyway, sorry to babble on, but as always, any help would be greatly appreciated. L8ter

Re: network neighborhood
You need to change to windows logon, I think you right click network
neigborhood, properties, pull down window and select windows logon. Then reboot.

Re: network neighborhood
Are you going in the right area, Im kinda blurry with win98. Im pretty
sure its in network properties. The setting with the network icon on desk top should be client for microsoft networks, if my memory is correct. If you want to get rid of icon you need to go to network properties and change it to windows logon, not client,,make sure to apply, then ok, it should require a reboot.....

Re: network neighborhood
The Network Neighborhood is an integral part of Windows Networking and as such it is heavily protected against an (accidental ? ) delete. But, there is a solution hidden deep down in the Windows Registry:
Follow the instructions in this link http://www.windowsnetworking.com/art.../delnethd.html

Re: network neighborhood
Hi all
If you'd rather not edit the Registry, I believe you could have TweakUI (the Win9x version) hide the icon for you [...if I'm remembering right, it's under the TweakUI "desktop" tab = TweakUI should still be free for downloading on the MS download site]. Best of luck . . . Gary
