Confused Auto shut-down Windows

One of the biggest problems with Windows, is it takes no effort to get in. At the log in screen you "have to enter the correct password" but if you hit cancel it boots right to Windows. Sure you may end up with default settings instead of any custome settings but who cares, your in.

How can I set it up so if the wrong password is entered or if cancel is hit, the computer shuts down instead of booting Windows?

There's not much you can do with ME.

However, you could lock the PC via the BIOS (almost every BIOS supports this).

That's right. The log-on screen for ME is fairly useless. I would set your password via BIOS and disable the log-on screen (unless you use more than one profile).

Re: Auto shut-down Windows

Oh, also, if when you set your startup password, if you're really concerned about security, you'll need to also set a password to Change BIOS settings so that you can't just deactivate the password from inside BIOS. (Still, I think you need to provide the pw to deactivate it.)
Just don't forget that password!
