[SOLVED] I'm back with new problems

hello everyone,
I recently got fed up with the fatal exception errors and all the other problems I was having and just wiped out my hard drive, repartitioned and reformatted it, only to start all over with many of the same problems as i had before, I no longer get exception errors but my computer is still extremely slow, it locks up , says that something has performed illegal actions, and now, when i sign into yahoo messenger, it comes up with this error: An error has occured in the script on this page... then below it says: Line:8 char:153 Expected:']' Code:0 URL:[url]http://messenger.yahoo.com/external/client_ad.php?p=409640 do you want to continue...etc. yes,no? the title on the error box says: Internet Explorer Script Error. now, with that said, this error just popped up out of the blue, it worked fine one second, then this the next. the other things i imagine i cant fix if they are still there after all i did to reinstall windows, but if there is anything i can do myself to get rid of that annoying error popup, (other than use the internet repair tool, I already tried that.)I would greatly appreciate the input. )~Titan2~(

Re: I'm back with new problems

Seems you to be using the older verison of O.S.

Recently they just realsed the newer verison of O.S called Vista.

Perhaps i suggest you updrate your O.S to 2000 or XP or Vista.

Re: I'm back with new problems

titan2 could you plz post your computer specs?

Also, Find the manufacturer of your hard drive and run their Hard Drive Diagnostics Utility.

And test the memory......
Try Windows Memory Diagnostic Test
http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

The Windows Memory Diagnostic tests the Random Access Memory (RAM) on your computer for errors. The diagnostic includes a comprehensive set of memory tests. If you are experiencing problems while running Windows, you can use the diagnostic to determine whether the problems are caused by failing hardware, such as RAM or the memory system of your motherboard. Windows Memory Diagnostic is designed to be easy and fast. On most configurations, you can download the diagnostic, read the documentation, run the test and complete the first test pass in less than 30 minutes.

Or you can try memtest

Re: I'm back with new problems

Dear Geek Girl,
Love that avatar,Thank You for the links and advice,I will try them out even though i believe the problem resolved itself when the ad in the box at the bottom of messenger, changed to a different client,(I wish they would do away with that) apparently the client running the ad had an error on THEIR page and my computer found it,just my luck huh? anyway, the error popup is gone and i'm too paranoid, but with all the problems ive had, it's no wonder why, thanx again and i'm sure i'll be back again soon. I'd be lost with out this site. )~TITAN2~(
