I have an LG 32" LCD TV, which claims that it can do 1024x768. The TV is a widescreen so I don't understand the resolution, it should be something else that is a widescreen format, but for some ODD reason, it's not, its maximum resolution is 1024x768.
Anyways, I'm trying to view movies from my PC to it, connected by VGA cable. My video card does support 1024x768, but on the LG LCD TV, it's appears stretched. I've tried everything I know of to make it fit, but no good results. The resolutions that are in widescreen supported by my video card will not show video on the LCD TV. Those resolutions are higher than 1024x768. Does anyone know how I can resolve this situation? Are there video cards out there that will do 1024x768 in widescreen? Are there ways I can manipulate windows or my video card to show in widescreen at 1024x768?? Why do I find it very silly that LG would make an LCD TV that does 1024x768, while it's a widescreen????? Thanks for the help ahead of time. |

Re: 1024x768 to widescreen?
Hi,
![]() Most TVs that size use the resolution 1366 x 768. I recently worked with a TV with this resolution, and had a couple of options: Run in 1024 x 768: Run in this resolution, and configure the TV to show the resolution at the native aspect ratio. It will not take up the whole screen. Run in 1280 x 768: Run in this resolution, and configure the TV to show the resolution at the native aspect ratio. It will take up almost the whole screen. Run in 1366 x 768: Run in this resolution. It won't matter how the TV is configured, it will be running in the native aspect ratio and the native resolution. This is the best option. Some TVs require 1360 x 768 though. Remember NEVER to use a refresh rate higher than 60 Hz on your LCD TV!

Re: 1024x768 to widescreen?
Thanks for the info TheMatt, however, my PC/video card does not support 1366 x 768. That option just isn't there. There is another resolution ****x768...(i'm at work, can't really remember what the **** number is) but I remember it was higher than 1366x768. Is there a way to either update my NVidia card's driver?? or update a windows driver? or hack in to get my PC to do 1366x768?
I've already tried zooming in on the LCD TV, though it does fill in the whole screen, it's more pixelated (is that a word?), blurry, and the faces are stretched still...i think the best resolution is to have my video card do 1366x768, which I hope that the LCD TV will be able to support that resolution... thanks in advance for the help... |

Re: 1024x768 to widescreen?
well...i downloaded power strip...and loaded it onto the pc...it works like it says however, my NVidia 6200 series video/graphics card will not do 1366x76. It can output 1300x768 though, so I tried that instead. It was crappy looking on the LCD TV. Yeah, the desktop filled the whole screen, but everything was bunched together. The text under each folder was smeared and the colors were just not as bright when it was in 1024x768. I'm beginning to wonder if there is a resolution to this LCD TV that would fit perfectly.
Well, I think I'll settle with this because when I watched a couple of movies last night, the image was not as stretched as before. I guess that was my target, but it would be nice to have a fully functioning desktop so I surf the net on my TV as well. Again, thanks for all the help and if there's anything else someone can suggest, I'd appreciate it, but for now...i guess it's as good as it can get... |

Re: 1024x768 to widescreen?
the link above is not working
[ http://www.tcmagazine.com/forums/ind...ownload&id=200 ] however, I had a chance to use the power strip program...it still doesn't support 1366x768? I've tried making my own profile, and a new .inf file with the widescreen resolution (1366x768), but no luck...still... |

Re: 1024x768 to widescreen?
the problem is kind of sorted...i'm using a widescreen resolution, but the desktop is squished together. I can seem to get 1366x768 still, but the movies are playing fine so I'm content...thanks again

Re: [resolved]1024x768 to widescreen?
You wanted 1024X768 resolution on the TV.
The Desktop will be distorted if you stretch it to 32" Wide Screen. Even my Widescreen Laptop gives a problm with distortion to some imiges. 1024X768 is an Aspect Ratio od 4:3. Like old TV transmitions, if you do not set the TV to the right Aspect Ratio, it will be distorted. Just a thought. J
