I Need Help

Ok i have this other computer, and its a compaq mv720. Well its a compaq series PS2013,and since i can't get the sound to the computer im currently using fix. I want to use that computer because its sound works perfectly. However, that computer has problems also. I cant go to the log in screen.Like when i first turn the computer on it works good and everything, but when itz time to log on to the computer it freezes everything, and it has this gray screen that dosen't suppose to be there. So i figured the only way to to fix it was to go to setup screen when i first log on, and when i go there it have many choices.

File: Storage: Security: Power: Advanced:
System information
Set time and date
Save to floppy
Restore from floppy
Set defaults and exit
Ignore changes and exit
Save changes and exit

Then when i log out of there, because i find all that stuff useless. i go back to the main screen, and at the bottom it says:

F1:Boot F10:Setup F12:Network Service Boot

Then if i pick F1 or F12 it comes to this screen that says:

1:Normal startup
2:Safe Mode
3:Step by step process

Your Choice____ You have 28 seconds remaining

So i really dont know what to do. I've tried everything. So can someone please tell me what to do , or tell me how to get my sound workin back on this computer, or can you tell me how to reboot the whole system in windows me, and i dont mean restart i mean reboot, or can you tell me how to get restore system to work, because everytime i try it i pick restore to earlier time. Then i pick a date, but then it only start for 2 seconds thyen it restart my computer, then a screen pops up and say sorry system restore couldn't be restored to this date. Pick another check point, and i did it like 5 times but it still doesnt work. So can someone please help me.

Re: I Need Help

Hi there, firstly to tackle the sound problem in your existing computer. Right click my computer > click properties > click hardware > click device manager, and see if you have any yellow question/exclamation marks under the sound and audio section.

Next for your other computer, try booting into safe mode, choose F1 and then number 2.
