Help please

I'm not really sure where I should post this, so this looks like a good spot.

I think that image speaks for itself. Why do I not have the option to remove programs and stuff? I looked through each one, and about 5 of them still have the button to remove programs, but not all. I need to know how to fix this! Help me if you can, please.

Re: Help please

Hi RamsFan

It's generally advised to uninstall all older versions of the Java 2 Runtime Environment before installing the latest version. The reason for this is for better system security --- On the following webpage there are helpful links, screenshots, & instructions --- http://securitygarden.blogspot.com/2...va-update.html

If you no longer have any shortcuts to run the uninstallers (on your Start/Programs menus) - nor any workable uninstallers in Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel, you can try a little manual weeding of your own (use Windows Explorer, find the Java folders in Program Files and in Program Files\Common), followed by a run of your favorite Registry cleaner [if you don't have one already, CCleaner is pretty good - and it's free --- http://www.download.com/CCleaner/300...-10315544.html --- run the "cleaning" functions to clear out unneeded temp files, and run the "Issues" functions to clear up tangles in the Registry . . . run the "Issues" function a few times, until CCleaner reports "No issues found"] . After rebooting, download and install the latest version of J2RE.

Best of luck
. . . Gary
