Re: startup problem in window 98 ..please help ??
Hi Sid
Did you have a chance yet to make your way through the diagnostics and Microsoft troubleshooter recommended a few weeks ago? http://www.techsupportforum.com/micr...ed-things.html If not, give them a go. If the hardware passes the diagnostics, boot from a bootable floppy diskette or a bootable CD, and see if the Windows installation files are on the hard drive. If so, you may be able to run an "over-the-top" or "in-place" reinstallation of Windows using those --- http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=70846 Or, if the PC was running somewhat acceptably not so long ago, you can try restoring an older saved copy of the Registry. Boot the computer with a bootable floppy (you can find one at bootdisk.com) and from the DOS command prompt, type scanreg /restore and choose a date from before your current trouble. For more details, see Microsoft's article --- http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q221512/ Best of luck . . . Gary
