installing win98 plus
FONT=Arial]arial[/font]
I am having trouble installing win98 plus My computer has a 20g hard drive 800 mhz 300 mg RAM. i have used fdisk to set my partition then formatted the C drive when i try to run setup i get the message "this programe will not run in DOS mode" I notice that when I review the partitions it does not say FAT 32 but primary DOS partition. Also when I go into setup it does not list a primary drive just a primary slave drive. How do i get back to square one and start over with a master drive???

Check the jumper settings on the back of your hard drive. That will tell you more.

The primary DOS partition will be FAT or FAT32 even though
it doesn't say so - don't worry about that. If message says 98 Plus cannot be installed from DOS then it simply means you have to start Windows first and run it from there I think. Alternatively it could mean you have to 'boot' your system with the 98Plus CD which will then run it's own setup , but I rather think the former is correct ( ie run CD from within Windows). It's like doing an upgrade to Windows in a sense, so it has to be done when Windows is running. Pip |

This sounds like the problem i have. *Thread:Help Installing Windows*Go to BIOS and check if everything installed*IDE MASTER,SLAVE* Is your hard drive SATA or IDE. Go to Advance BIOS features and click on >Boot device select...
First should be cd rom 3rd should be floppy. Dont use the boot disk that comes with Win 98. |

You need to boot from a win98 boot disc(floppy).
When it prompts you choose run with cd support Then place your CD in and wait for the (a ) prompt Type the letter of your cdwith a colon(D:) press enter then type setup then hit enter and away you go Hope this works for you.
