PII drive in PIII?

I have a Fujitsu drive that was taken out of a PII, it was the master drive running 98SE. I have tried to install it as a slave on my PIII which has the same operating system. The system will not boot with the drive in place, an error message saying "cannot find..." appears.

Is it possible to use this drive as I wish? How do I do it?
Thanks

Check your jumpers on the rear of the unit. Also make sure sure both IDE channels are enabled in the BIOS.

Sounds like a master/slave jumpering issue.

The jumpers appear to be correct, I will have this confirmed by a third party. The system had two drives prior to this and I have not changed BIOS.

Thanks

Evil HI There...Chillx

Hi There....................

*Some Concepts In Layman Lang.
What Is Master Drive? The Drive Whose operating System Will Run.
What Is Slave Drive? The Drive whose Mere Job Is To Show It's Contents.

Note :-- Becareful Of shifting Of Drive Letters

If Your BIOS Did'nt Detect Your HDD It Might B BCoz Both The HDD's Are Set To Master.
No Man Can Serve Two Masters (Said By Jesus Christ) Nor Can A Computer

If You Are Sure That Both The Installed HDDs Are Working Fine.Try This..........

Check The Jumpers Of HDD Which You Want To Make MasterDrive.
The jumpers Sholud Be On Pins 1&2 i.e First Two Pins (Top & Bottom) From Right Of The IDE Connector (40-Pin Connector).
Do This If Your HDD Had Only One Jumper , If It Has two Jumpers Leave The Jumpers As They Are.

Remove The Jumpers From HDD Which You Want To Make Slave Drive....
Yes.. Remove Each Jumper From It.This Will Make The HDD A Slave drive.

Now try Attaching The HDD's To The IDE Cables....
I Hope This Works

If It Does'nt Try removing Your CD-Rom And Adding The Win98 Installed HDD There

This Will Make The BIOS To Detect The HDD.

If The Problem Still persists Post The HDD's Manufacturers Name, Some drives Like Quantum Resists From becoming A slave ( It Comes From A Royal Family)

C Ya (In Hell )
