Fast shutdown
My computer (Windows 98) had a problem: it alway restarted when I selected "Shut down" from the Start menu. I started my computer in safe mode and shutted it down then, but the same problem occured. I disabled fast shutdown by Start -> Run -> msconfig -> Advanced -> Disable fast shutdown. After I selected "Disable fast shutdown" my computer restarted, and when I shut it down, it shut down with no problems. My question is: is it OK to leave the option "Disable fast shutdown" selected or is fast shutdown better for my computer or something? Thanks.

Hi There.........
Hope I Could be Of Some Assistence I'll Explain Some Windows Concept In Layman Lang And Leave The Option To You............. Shutdown --- It Is Process In Which Your Settings Are Saved Like Which Folder Was Last Opened, What Applications Are working etc Terminates Them Or Sometimes Asks You To Terminate It & Shuts The Power Down. Starting A PC After Shutdown Is Called Warm Bootup As POST Is Carried Out Restart ------ It Works The Same As Shutdown, But When the System restarts It Bypasses The POST & The Bootup Is Called Cold Boot In Fast Shutdown Many Setting Are Not Saved ,i.e. Any Open Document Will Terminate Without Your Knowledge & will Not Be Saved. Actually It Runs The rundll.exe & The user.exe Files Together To Close The Application And Shut The Computer Down . Type c:\windows\rundll.exe user.exe, exitwindows In Run This Will Do A Fast Shutdown. POST- (Power On Self Test) It Is A BIOS Program Which Checks For Devices & Peripherals Attached To The PC.(A brief description) Okay If U R Still Confused,....... What You 've Done 'll Not Hamper Your Computer & It's Just Fine.C Ya (In Hell )
