Help installing windows

My hard drive broke and i bough a new one meaning i have to reinstall everything again . The hardrive is SATA and i dont have big knowledge about them. My mother board is MSI 865PE Neo2-P. I am not sure how to configure SATA in BIOS but i did this:
Went into Intergrated Peripherals
>On-Chip IDE Configuration: here how it kind of looks
On-Chip ATA(s) Operate Mode Legacy Mode
ATA Configuration S-ATA Only
S-ATA keep enabled Yes
P-ATA Keep enabled No
P-ATA Channel Selection Both
Combined Mode Option P-ATA 1st Channel
S-ATA Ports Definition P0-3rd./P1-4th

I hope i did everything right with the hard drive.Ok now to the problem. I think i had this problem the first time i was installing Windows. Ok i have windows XP Pro,Home, and Win 98 SE. After Bios configuration the computer restarts and tells me Boot disk failure, insert boot disk. I dont have boot disk for Win XP but i have it for 98SE. So i pop the floppy in and the comp asks me:
1.Start Windows 98 Se setup from CD-ROM
2.Start computer with CD-ROm support
3.^without CD-ROm support.
I choose the first one.

After that it gives some info about my cd rom and says under it:
No Valid CDROM device drivers selected
After that it give some more crapy info and a ne page pops up saying:
No Drives found, aborting installation

Windows 98 setup files were not found

A:\>
plz help me. i dont know if HD works or if there is a problem with CD Rom.

In your bios, do you have the IDE controller that the cdrom drive is plugged into enabled?

Is it a SCSI cdrom with a seperate controller card?

What is happening is that the cd-rom drive is not getting the dos driver loaded. If it is IDE cdrom what else is on the ide cable?

In the BIOS it should list ide master and secondary. Enable whichever one the cdrom is plugged into. If you have 2 cdrom drives, make sure one is master the other is slave.

You also can set your bios to boot from cdrom and 98SE or the XP disks will boot from your cdrom drive without a boot floppy.

Usually in bios or cmos, (Press del,f2, or other key to enter setup when you first turn the computer on) there is an 'Advanced' that says 'first boot device' You set the cdrom over the removable media or hard disk. If it is not advanced, look for 'Boot order' or something to that effect. If you have the manual for your mobo, it will say how in there.

Evil Hi There.......Chillx

Hi There.. I Hope I Can Help You Out..................

Keys To Enter BIOS del,f1,ctrl+esc+insert,ctrl+esc+delete,f10 (Compaq)
In Ur BIOS Check For boot Order Or Option Where You Can Setup The Option For Bootup process

In There Give The 1st order To Floppy
2nd order To CD-ROM
3rd Order To HDD

Note :- You Can Also Select The Boot Media By pressing f9 (Some BIOS),
But You Can't Alter It.
If You Don't Get THe option In BIOS Press F9 And select Boot From Floppy.

*Some Basic DOS Commands Is Required
Insert The Bootable FLOPPY In The Floppy Drive

After The Menu Has Appeared Choose From It
Start Computer With CD-ROM Support

This Will create A RAM-Drive In Your Computer And Shift Your CD-ROM Drive letters By One

example::----
i.e. Previosly If Your HardDisk Has 4 Partions C,D,E,F & Two CD-ROMs G,H
After The Creation Of RAM drive Your CD-ROM Drive Letters Will Be H,I respectively.

Note:- The RAM-Drive Will Get Deleted When You Restart (So Don't Worry About The Extra Drive)... For Information On RAM Drive Write To Me....::::

I'll Assume My Example As Your Present State
Insert The CD Into Your CD-ROM

After selecting The Option Start Computer With CD-Rom Support
You 'll B greeted By a Dos prompt Namely 'A:\'

On The Prompt type
h:
Then Press Enter
The Prompt Should change From A to H
i.e, H:\
To Check If The CD Is Present in The CDROM
Type :----- Dir/p (Press Enter)
If An error occurs Then probably The CD IS In The Next driveletter Or The Media Is faulty
Type :----- I: (Press Enter)
The Prompt Changes From H To I
i.e. I:\
Type Dir/p (Press Enter)
If Still The Error Occurs The CD Is Faulty

If The CD IS Detected And Dos Showed The File On The CD
Type SETUP (Press Enter)

& Eureka U've Done It

The Error As posted By You:--
No Valid CDROM device drivers selected
No Drives found, aborting installation

Occured As The CD You Inserted In The CD-ROM Was Not Bootable,Didn't Have The File Mscdex.exe (Microsoft CD-ROM file extension for MS-DOS)Or The File Was Corrupted

Note:-----
If You HDD Has One Partition
After RAM Drive Creation Drive Letter Of Your CD-ROM Are E,F Respectively
If You HDD Has Two Partitions
After RAM Drive Creation Drive Letter Of Your CD-ROM Are F,G Respectively
If You HDD Has Three Partitions
After RAM Drive Creation Drive Letter Of Your CD-ROM Are G,H Respectively
If You HDD Has Four Partitions
After RAM Drive Creation Drive Letter Of Your CD-ROM Are H,I Respectively

Hope It Works

C Ya
