Old P/C
Hi everyone, been away a long time My P/C is is fine but I bought one for My step father that has been reformatted and has no operating system I want to install 98 SE His choice, on there for Him what can I do ? I have tried to run the set up CD and no luck I need to know what floppies I need too make and what to type in when it asks for COMMAND LINE
thanks hope we can solve this here? everyone was great last time i was posting on here. have a good one... PS: I have a 98 SE CD.... |

You may need a boot disk, go to Bootdisk.com and create a windows 98 boot disk
Place it in the floppy drive and boot, at the command promt type fdisk. Select option 4 to see if there is a partition on the drive if not you need to create one, then format the drive. Then insert the windows cd in to the drive, go to the d: prompt [or whichever your cdrom is ] at the D: prompt type SETUP. This should start installing windows for you, follow the prompts Good luck

Hi Geekgirl is correct, The MS install CD for 98 does not boot. You can make a boot disk on any 98 system, borrow one from a friend or download one. MadBoot is a free download that will do the job, but there are plenty to be had.
