98SE help.

hi, sister turnt her pc on today and the explorer.exe says it performed the good ol illegal operation. so the shell wont start up, all that i get is the wallpaper and cursor, any way i can repair it or has it gotta be a clean reformat.

You can try scanreg /restore

cheers it let me restore the file, but for anyone whos going to do it or needs it, just run the command prompt by selecting it and run scanreg /restore, not how they show u on the MS site.
