I.E and uploading problems!

Hi,

Firstly, thank you to anyone who can help me out in advance because I am totally stumped on this one and I've exhausted all the avenues I can think of. Two days ago, I went to upload some photo's to my photobucket account after taking them off my camera and editing them in photoshop as I have done a million times before. When I tried to upload them, I got this :

Thinking it was the camera or the software, I tried to upload an image I knew was fine and got this :

I tried to edit the pictures in irfanview instead of photoshop, same problem. I tried a different camera, same problem. I tried imageshack instead of photobucket, same problem, so it's definitely something on my end that's wrong. I should add that all these images appear fine on my computer/phone/camera, so it's something that occurs on upload.

Everything was fine the evening before, and nothing was altered overnight as the pc was off. I've run full virus checks and even adaware and nothing showed up beyond some cookies, I tried dropping my firewall, three different image hosts online and even uploading the photo's right off the camera, same thing. I spoke to my ISP, they say there's nothing wrong with my connection (which is broadband) because I can view websites and download things fine...so...what is wrong with the thing?! I'm at a total loss and would REALLY appreciate any help people can give me here!

Hi LuLufae

. . . and Welcome to the Tech Support Forums!

Which version of Windows are you running? If you are running Windows Me, you can use the "System Restore" feature, using a "restore point" date that is prior to the current image corruption problem. [If this thread ended up over here by mistake, and you are running Windows XP, you can also use the XP version of System Restore].

If you are running a version of Window 98/98se, you can try booting your computer with either a bootable floppy diskette (suitable diskettes can be downloaded from http://www.bootdisk.com) or a bootable Win98/98se CD ("start computer with Cd-rom support"), and from the A:> prompt, type

scanreg /restore

and select a saved Registry from a date earlier than the photo upload trouble.
_____________

If neither of those help, see if perhaps you upgraded something, and it installed a "web accelerator" or "download manager", etc -- these can cause trouble with both uploading and downloading sensitive files like images --- http://forums.photobucket.com/showthread.php?t=11953 --- [it could have been an "automatic update" that installs without you having to do anything]

Best of luck
. . . Gary
