Win98 will not start
I downloaded a program to try to get my USB port to work. In the process of doing so, the installation required that I restart my computer and then prompt the line of text to complete the installation.
Then when I restarted my computer the windows 98 logo came up as if it where loading and it brought me to this message(black screen and plain white text): "Configuration manager cannot load because 1 of the following files is either not present or has invalid version number: vmm.vxd, shell.zxd, vtd.zxd, vxdldr.vxd, vpicd.vxd or zwin32.vxd. Try running Setup again Press any key to continue......" If I press any key or let it sit the computer turns off completly. Now when I start the computer it brings me to the microsoft windows 98 start up menu where I am allowed to pick one of seven choices: 1.Normal 2.Logged(backflash BOOTLOG.TXT) 3.Safe Mode 4.Safe Mode With Network Support 5.Step-by-Step Confermation 6.Command Prompt Only 7.Safe Mode Command Prompt only Regaurdless of which option I choose (aside from the prompt option, because I dont know how to use them) it brings me back to the same aforementioned error. Any help would be much apprectiated. P.S. Im not a computer wiz if possible put this in easy terms for me. Thanks. |
