cant remove nvidia display drivers in winme

hi geekgirl, howve you been? you were able to do it before ,so its my hope this one will be easy enough for you. i ended up doing a clean install of win me. everything is fine. all my periphals worked. i didnt need to find any drivers. i got a little cocky and downloaded a trial version of power dvd. i watched "RUDY" and it worked flawlessly. the next day i popped in waterboy and kept getting an error code. the details were "your tv out port on your card is enabled and in order to watch a dvd you will need to disable it. I tried to remove the nvidia display drivers and reinstall them, but they are putting up a fight. in add remove programs i get a message nuvdisp has caused a error in NUVDISP.EXE. if this continues restart. i restart and nothing changes. my display seems to be working fine. i wouldnt be that confused if it did not work so well the first time... any help as always would be appreciated. thanks , kenzo

Is this because you used a recovery cd/restore cd or that you opted to use windows default drivers and did not install the mobo drivers?

What version did you d/l? Your type of error is said to pop up when using PowerDVD ver 3. Try ver 4

Did you try to disable it before uninstalling your vid drivers? I dont think your vid card is the issue at this point, if your vid drivers are installed and your display is well leave it alone.

powerdvd worked great and then!

thank you for taking the time to help me out. it is always appreciated. i believe the trial version offered was 7 and it said winme compatible. it worked as i said flawlessly for one movie. i dont think it is my vid card either. everything is chuggin along except watching movies. i can stream video and all that stuff. i am hesitant to actually pay for a dvd player with a decoder in case it says the same thing again. why does windows me come with a dvd player in windows/system and no way to use it. each time i try it says i need a decoder. i cant seem to find a free decoder for trial purposes to make sure everything works before i pay for it. any suggestions. well have a nice 4th of july... and stay cool. thanks in advance. kenzo

Have you tried using Windows Media Player 9, and if so do you get the same results?

You should have software for your dvd player from the manufacturer if you didnt add the hardware yourself.
