Pictures don't open in received emails

Hello

Lately, pictures I received with emails do not open. There is a blank box where the picture should be. At the top left hand corner of this box, there is a very small box with a red dot at its bottom right hand corner. Beside this very small box, there are the numbers and letters, eg. 2412e66.jpg

Has any of the settings been changed or did I unknowingly delete something?

Could anyone help me?

Thank you
tlaz

Are you using Outlook Express as you email client?

Run the System File Checker

Go to the Run box on the Start Menu and type in:

sfc /scannow ( sfc if not reconized)

This command will immediately initiate the Windows File Protection service to scan all protected files and verify their integrity, replacing any files with which it finds a problem. You will need your Windows cd.

VERIFY YOUR JAVA SOFTWARE INSTALLATION

Test your Macromedia Shockwave & Flash Players

Hello Geekgirl

I am using Yahoo.

I just realized that it is not only in the emails but also in the Yahoo front page there are no pictures as well.

This is so only in the Mozilla Firefox browser. However in the IE browser, there is no problem with the pictures.

Thank you

Did you test your Java and Macromedia Shockwave & Flash Players? What were the results? Have you tried uninstalling Firefox and reinstalling?

Hello Geekgirl

The test result for Macromedia Shockwave & Flash Players is - 'Installation Complete'

For Java, the result is - 'CONGRATULATIONS, you have the Latest version of Java!'

I did try uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox. It is still the same.
FYI, I am using the latest version - 1.5.0.4

Uninstall Firefox via Add/Remove Programs. Remove any orphan folder(s) in Program Files and then reinstall Firefox

Did the reinstall help, or was it something else?

Hello Geekgirl

Actually, after reinstalling it was still the same. I happened to go into the section about Mozilla/Firefox Browsers and came across the title 'Not all Images load' and I found:-

'Tools | Options | Content | Load Images | for the originating web site only <remove checkmark from here (normally this is unchecked by default)'

Mine was checked.

I tried it and it worked.

That's about it.

Thank you and regards
