Flashing Award Modular BIOS without paying
I recently took on a home project to upgrade the (really) old PC at home. I've got it from P1 133MHZ, 16MB RAM to P1 200MHz, 128MB RAM.
I'd like to flash the BIOS to the latest version. However, the only way to do this, as far as I can see, is to pay esupport (www.esupport.com) to send me a zip file containing a new BIOS file and the award updater. Is there another way to get the BIOS file? All i can find on the web is the updater. Thanks |

Dai is right, so post back all relevant info you can find regarding your mobo.
There should also be a silver sticker on a chip having a company logo (e.g. Award) and some identification beneath. Additionally, look for any printed letters on the mobo, and any other kind of stickers. Look carefully fron the side, as well (on ISA ports, etc). Hope this will help you identify your mobo correctly - post back! :-) |

Thanks for the replies. The ftp page of the manufacturer looks hopeful, but I'm confused as to which files I need.
The m/b is a socket 7 FIC PT-2006, the sticker on the chip says 8.04j802a. There is a file called 804j802.awd on the website, but I can't work out if thats for upgrading to 8.04j802a or from it. Any other information I should post? |

The HTML page for bios upgrades says "No BIOS upgrades available". Try our ftp site, which opens as a directory list. All I have to go on are file names
