webcam not installing-help

Hi, my name is Theresa and I just purchased aTelemax webcam. I followed the istructions to install it and when I clicked on it to see if it worked it said that it was not installed properly. I went back and reinstalled it , but the same thing happens. Please help me out as I am pretty computer illiterate. I have only had this computer since last December and am just learning the ropes.

Hi Theresa and Welcome to TSF

Most webcams require you to install the drivers first, did you instll them first then connect the webcam?
Could you please jot down the exact error message and post it back here?

OK, this is what it says, Vidcap could not initialize the capture devise. I did install the capture hardware first just like it said to do.

You probably already checked this but is the webcam compatible with Windows 98 and do you have 98Se or just 98?
