Hi everybody that is my first message here and I wish to find a solution for this issue! I have a software on a CD and in order to play this software I have to keep always the CD in the CD-ROM I did not like that so I copied the files of my CD and pasted it in my hardrive in order to save my ears from the continues noise of the CD-ROM but no luck still the application ask me to put the CD on the CD-ROM in order to excute it.
So my question is: is there any way to be able to make my software works from my hardrive without the need of the CD to be inside the CDROM?? Thanks |

Thanks,
The software is a learning studying tool for A+ I installed the software but in order for it to work it always ask for the CD to be on, it is something reminds me of games when you play a game the CD has to be in the CD-ROM even after you install the game but actually I hate this way and I hate for the CD-ROM to be working all the time so I was thinking if this software would always need the CD I better transfer the whole contents of the CD to my computer in order for the software to read from my hardrive instead of reading from the CD-ROM. I hope I am more clear this time. Is there anyway to make the installed software see the contents of the CD (which is now on my hard drive) instead of reading/seeing it from the real CD itself?

One of these programs should do what you want. Haven't used either. One seems to work only with iso images
Virtual CD-rom Magic Disk Let us know how it works out. |

Hi,
Virtual-CD-ROM is only available for XP/2000. Magic disk I installed it but it seems to be for only images. But I have tried another one calls: VISUAL CD and it is a freeware you can find it here at this link http://www.snapfiles.com/reviews/Vis.../visualcd.html And it seemed to work and really the software worked but I had a doubt that Visual CD did not actually do any thing so I tried to uninstall it to know if my software still will work or what? but guess what it was still working and without asking me for any CD! And I think I noticed something the first time when I installed the software from my CD and therefore in order to start the program it always asked for the CD. But this last time I unistalled the software completely and I took the CD out of the CD-ROM and I installed the software again but this time from the copy of the CD which I made on my hard drive and not from the CD directly. And this time the software is working well and to make sure that what I did was right I deleted the copy/folder of the CD from hardrive into my recycle bin and I tried to start the installed software again and it did not work then and asked me for a CD later I made restore of the folder from the recycle bin and everything was just fine and working and the software was reading from the copy which exist on my hard disk. So my advice for anyone wants play a game without useing the CD is DO NOT install the game directly from the CD but first transfer all the files of the CD to the hardrive useing copy and paste and then take off the CD then start to setup the game or whatever software from the hardrive copy and it should work fine without asking for any CD, I think that was the key and I will try it with something else again to make sure if this completely right or wrong. Thanks and any comment is so welcome |
