Drive detection problem

Hey, don't worry, though this is my first post, I plan to stick around!

I was wondering if you could help me..

Recently one of my drives, an 8GB Maxtor drive with my WinXP install crashed and stopped spinning up. After a world of fixing and repairing (after working out it was the firmware card blown and nothing wrong with the motor or platters) - I replaced the firmware card and it span up.

The Maxtor drive program detects it, but Windows ME (Which I'm currently using on an older 2GB drive) doesn't! I've heard of problems like this before, and though the drive is detected in the bios/Maxtor bios software, Windows ME fails to notice it's existance.

Is there any way I can force ME to scan and pick it up? I tried a hardware scan and it didn't pick anything up.

Thanks in advance :)

If the card failure also caused the drive to lose it's partition, then ME won't see it until you repartition and format it.

If that's the case, and you have important info on it, you may want to check out Recover it All, or a similar data recovery app.
