I need to recvoer deleted files. What program should I use?

Hi! I have a HP XE2 Laptop with Windows 98 Operating system. I accidently deleted pictures that I still want. What program should I use to retrieve them? I was hoping to find a free downloadable program, but haven't had any luck. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

noticed your post thought i'd give an opinion

ages ago i tried a few and the best one is Final Data.
does some serious searching and recovery.
