Password protect excel

I have an excel file in a shared folder that is used by 2 other PCs. I have put a password on the file for Modify. When I open the file on the original PC I am asked for the modify password, or click Read-only. When I open the file on the other PCs I am not prompted for the password and can only save a copy of the file. All of the PCs are XP Pro, Office 03, and are on the same network. I am at a loss as to why the modify password prompt is not coming up.

I figured it out....it had to do with the advanced settings for the shared folder. The users were only permitted to view a file not make changes, once I drilled down into the security settings and made a few minor adjustments, it works!
