flashing bar windows 2000

HI All,

I have a problem with docs in word 2000 (running on XP SP2). Frequently, though not always (nor with any pattern that I can see), when I want to "save as" or "print". The relevant window doesn't come to the front but hides behind the word/document screen and the top blue bar with document name, flashes. If I randomly minimise and /or switch out and in to the program, the function window finally does appear in the foreground and I can continue working as normal.

Not critical but annowing. Any ideas?

thanks Dins

I don't think that's fixable, but I get the same problem.

For me it happens when I use a very slow computer, and try to open a programme with another programme. For example, your printer and Word. Sometimes it can't tell which programme should be considered active, as the computer is so slow that it thinks Word is still processing, and the printer is trying to load as well. Hence, it will freeze both of the programmes and await user input.

Maybe if you increased RAM to make it work faster it might work...

Thanks. This article points the finger at Norton Antivirus which I am running. Not quite sure how to resolve the issue but now have a lead on what the cause is. Thanks.

Hey thanks! That was it. I just had to switch off the Office plug-in for Norton and now's all good!

cheers
