Ok well its 2am and im up doing coursework that has to be in tommorow [Yes, im stupid for leaving it so late, i have my own reasons for it, so please dont bother to mention my stupididy] and i had 2 files of work to do.
I do the first file [takes 2 hours] and finish and save, lets say i named this 'art'. I then open up another file, and the settings are all wrong, so i decide that to save time il re-open 'art' again, and use that and when im done save the file as the new name 'maths'. However me being the stupid idiot i am, i forget to save it as 'maths' and just click 'save now'. Now i have the 'maths' file saved over 'art' and i desperatly need 'art' back. Are there any ways i can like.. recover the old file? Can anyone PLEASE help?

May sound silly but have you tried searching your hard drives for the original file name? Should include hidden/system files in the search.
Also, there are 3rd party applications that can recover data that has been deleted by a command line...hunt some down on Google that include a functional trial version and you may get the file back. Best of luck :-)
