Outlook problem.

Hi. In the last 3 months. For no apparent reason. Outlook will neither download e=mails or send e-mails. The message I get is :

Reporting error (0x8004210A) The operation timed out waiting for a response fromn the server.

I'm not sure but I think it may have something to do with patches I downloaded from Symantec for my Norton package. After I downloaded them I think it was around about then that Outlook refused to download e-mails.

What's my best option. Do I remove Norton then reinstall it.
Or, remove outlook or office.

I've checked the POP settings and they appear correct.

Any help would be greatrly appreciated.

Many thanks for that Iain. Unfortunately it just confirms the fact that it is Norton Anti Virus which is causing the problem. The solution advocated by Symantech didn't resolve my prroblem. Nevertheless. Many thanks for your help.

Regards.

Chris

Yeah, sorry about that Chris. Have you paid up for Norton or are you free to go elsewhere?

Thanks for the advice Iain. I will try using the Norton removal tool tonight. However, do I just remove the Anti Virus part. Or the whole lot? I am a fully paid up member of Norton. H

I'm not familiar with Norton, but it looks like it's best to remove the whole lot then start again.

Once your Norton subscription is up, have sa earch here for plenty of free products that will do as good a job as Norton while taking up fewer resources.
