Download security question

I have both .xls and .doc files that I want to make avaliable for download and view from my website. They contain sensitive/confidential info. If I encrypt the file and password protect it- will it be safe traveling over the internet from my host server to where ever I may be when I download it?

I notice that both excel and MS word have RC4 MS Strong encryption with
128 key- How secure is that?

Thanks in advance

Andy

My System

There are a lot of programs out there that will crack the encryption used by office. I would put these file sin a password protected directory on your site, and give accounts only to those who need it.

Chevy-

I have put it in a password protected folder and have limited access to those individuals that need it. However- my concern is with the travel from host to client and protecting against possible interception. Therefore I figured as an added measure- I could encrypt it. The chances are slim that any one would or could intercept it. I just wanted to make it hard for them to do so.
