Cannot delete from personal folders in Outlook 2002

When I try to delete any items in my personal folders, I get the following message: 'The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook'. Restarting Outlook or reboot does not correct. I have also run the 'detect and repair' tool with no avail. Any suggestions. My personal folders are too full, and without deleting old items, I cannot add any new ones.

Backup your PST file. Search your computer for a file called scanpst.exe and scan your PST and see if there are any errors. Please make sure you BACKUP your PST before scanning.

already did this...no errors found. still have the problem. any suggestions?

Try creating a new profile and opening the PST from that profile and see if your old profile got corrupted.
