Trash problems with outlook

I'm unable to get into my MS outlook. I get the following message:

Unable to display the folder. Microsoft Outlook could not access the specified folder location. The file C:\Documents and Settings\Road Warrior\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst could not be accessed. Data error (cyclic redundancy check).

any ideas???

first thing I would do is see if this pst exists. If you go to the start menu, run, and type in "C:\Documents and Settings\Road Warrior\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook" without the quotes...make sure there is a file there named outlook.pst. If there is, I would check the permissions on it by right clicking on the file, going to the security tab and making sure your there with the right priviledges.

Also, a Cyclic Redundancy Check (or CRC) error normally relates to corrupted data - you may have a corrupt file.

Try copying the file away as a backup and deleting the original. You will lose all of the emails, etc already in your account, but you will have access again.

If this works, you always have the backup to go back to and see if it works again so you can recover your emails.

This could be caused by hard disc errors. Go to the webpage of your hard drive manufacturer and download the utility provided for checking for errors/bad sectors. Let it scan and see if you find any errors.

Try navigating to it in windows explorer. Go to your C drive and follow the directories through until you find out which one is missing.

Local settings is a hidden folder - have you got hidden folders shown or not? Go to Tools->Folder Options, then View->Hidden Folders->Show Hidden Files And Folders. Make sure this is activated, and check again.

Also I did find errors on the hard drive which I corrected with a disk that comes with the W.D. hard drive. What I don't understand is; I had internet security running for almost a month befrore I ever had any problems. Also is there a way to check the disk for errors using XP. for example; scandisk etc...
